This is our basic package. If you need help and guidance and don’t quite have the confidence to navigate this gap year business by yourself, you’re absolutely at the right place! It's a lot! We scour the globe for exciting opportunities that will fit your personality, talents, and passions. We focus on finding programs that are uniquely suited to YOU. We want your gap year to be your best year ever AND to contribute to your future. 

The Gap Year Consulting package offers families hands on, personalized consulting, advising, support and training. We begin with an extensive survey to determine your goals for the year, aptitudes, and program preferences. In our introductory conversation we will review the survey, discuss gap year fundamentals, and our roles as Gap Year partners. When we feel comfortable, Gap Year Base Camp will go to work researching the best possible plans for your Gap Year within your budget! Much like a college counselor, we will find programs and opportunities that enhance and support your interests and goals. We’re excited just thinking about it!

• Initial introductory assessment to determine goals of your Gap Experience and process of planning gap year
• A 5-hour phone call/meeting retainer for use by students and parents to create a plan, plus unlimited e-mailing

• Help in budgeting, applications, itinerary and other logistical issues.
• Assistance with funding and scholarship opportunities.
• An in-depth Gap Year Guide for preparing for your gap experience. Visa requirements, packing, travel expertise, and logistical issues are all covered in depth.

STEP is a free service which allows US citizens and nationals traveling abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest US Embassy or Consulate. Combined with our OSAC certification, we will keep you informed of travel advisories, where necessary.

The Gap Year Summit Consulting is our all-inclusive package offering families hands on, personalized consulting, advising, support and training. This package covers absolutely everything and will see you through your Gap Year Experience with clarity and enthusiasm. We begin with an extensive survey to determine your goals for the year, aptitudes, and program preferences. In our introductory conversation we will review the survey, discuss gap year fundamentals, and our roles as Gap Year partners. When we both feel comfortable, Gap Year Base Camp will go to work researching the best possible plans for your Gap Year within your budget! The summit package is for those who desire a white glove service through this often complicated process or for the busy parent or student who just doesn't have the time or skill set to manage elaborate travel planning. We will insure that your experience is smooth sailing!



SERVICES INCLUDED WITH SUMMIT CONSULTATION:



• Initial introductory assessment to determine goals of your Gap Experience and process of planning gap year. More extensive travel plans will require more time and planning. This is the package for you if you are taking on a BIG adventure or a program with lots of destinations and moving parts. For example, college course work and credits, multi-country travel, multiple providers and in-country trip planning. (Semester at Sea is a good example of a program that requires many layers of planning OR a study abroad program with multiple excursions)
• A 12-15 hour phone call/meeting retainer for use by students and parents to create a plan, plus unlimited e-mailing
• Program and activity recommendations based on your goals and preferences combined with our deep knowledge of reputable and vetted organizations.
• Assistance with the application process. We can't do it for you, but we can support and encourage and share our insight and tips.
• Assistance with the Visa process where applicable. Depending on the program, the visa process can be overwhelming. We use a service that makes it much easier. Their fees apply, but we can expedite the process and eliminate enormous potential headaches!
• Help with overland itineraries and other logistical issues
• We work closely with both parents and students to instill confidence in their choices and their program. As an added benefit, we are OSAC registered.
• Pre-departure preparation assistance

There are times when clients have a quick question and want to consult with an expert. They know what they want and need to make sure that they're on the right track…or want the name of a program we have mentioned and a quick overview of it's benefits. 

This 50 minute consult is the ticket! Come with a list of questions and ask away. This call does not involve any research on our end and does not take into account individual needs but can certainly put you on the path towards a program that might be a great fit.

THE DIY GAP YEAR $399

What is a DIY Gap Year? If you’ve started researching your gap experience you know that there are literally thousands of options. And then you choose one of those options, let’s say a tall ship voyage or volunteering in Africa, and within those choices there are again, literally hundreds more options? Which ship? Which voyage? Which hemisphere? What’s their training objective and primary language? Is the program reputable? Do they have a reputation for partying or for experiential learning? Are indigenous cultures being exploited or are volunteers diverting resources? Is the program a broker with little connection to the actual organizers or is it a grass roots initiative? This list could go on and on, but you get the gist. It’s hard to know and assess all of these issues. And when you’re halfway around the world, it’s SO important to have a strong sense of the program and its reputation and to know that you have resources to lean on!

The DIY Gap Year Makes it Easy

You will receive our comprehensive DIY Gap Year Guide that is designed to walk you, step by step, through the process. It is paired with a journal and checklist that will keep you on track. After reading the guide, you will take a very specific and targeted survey designed to narrow your focus and highlight your absolute best options. After reviewing your survey, we’ll send you program recommendations based on your preferences, objectives, comfort levels, and budget. We will recommend a minimum of 7 programs (maximum of 10) and options depending on your length of stay. Within these choices, you will still have some options to customize your trip and of course, you can do it all exactly as you want! We are simply offering an informed and inspired framework!

We will also recommend a sequence, time table, and basic itinerary and will add you to our GYBC Class of 2020 for full support and ongoing resources!
